Grand Prize: Apex Legends™ – 10,000 (+1500 Bonus) Apex Coins

About the game:

Royal battles are not done just from the lazy. In the wake of the hype raised by PUBG and Fortnite, everybody strives to split to a brand new genre - from large publishers into unknown studios. It all resembles running after an outgoing train, so it's not surprising that the trend for these projects has been the topic of ridicule. The announcement of any computer game dedicated for this manner provokes an obvious reaction: dear creators, you can't develop anything new in this particular genre, do something different!

It ends up they are able to. So much so that Epic Games and PUBG Corp. need to think hard about how to take care of a fearless newcomer. Meet the new king - Apex Legends.

A nice surprise

The fact that EA will release the Titanfall spin-off in this kind of unusual form wasn't understood until the very last moment. Following the buy of "electronics" studio Respawn Entertainment, there were also rumors regarding the third part, but nothing longer. The fact that instead of a separate independent computer game in this world, we'll be given a f2p shooter, and even at the genre of the royal battle, has been a surprise. But, there was just no time to be amazed: the very first rumors about a new project appeared a few days before the official announcement, immediately after which the game has been published.

And the fact is - what could be worse than the news "EA bought us, so instead of the third portion of Titanfall we are creating a free shooter with lootboxes"? Is that the announcement of a similar project for cellular devices.

In the wake of the excitement raised by such an abrupt release, Apex Legends was able to gather a critical mass of players that chose to take a peek at the brand new shooter. And on you - that the shooter proven to be somewhat excellent! After just a day, there were just two and a half million who at least once launched the Legends; per week after they had been ten times more. At the moment, the record for consumers simultaneously in the computer game is equal to two thousand, and also, seemingly, this is not anywhere near the limit.

I am legend

Regardless of any royal battle, there are two basic rules: a damaging circle doesn't let it sit in one area and inexorably compels players against each other, and at the close of the round there should be only one (or one team, if we are speaking about a style for squads). Apex Legends does not infringe on those unshakable foundations of this genre, but instead boldly experiments with other people.

The most obvious is the existence of various personalities, or, since they are called here, legends. Each character, of which there are eight so much, has a exceptional look and unique skills and abilities, just like in certain MOBA or even Overwatch (since we've got a shooter). There are three abilities for each: one passive, one triggered and, ultimately, closing, especially significant, which, out of habit, is called an "ult." For example, a healthful Gibraltar carries a little power defense when planning from any weapon, understands how to put in a protective dome that is impervious to bullets and shells, along with his third skill causes a potent bombardment; the fun robot Pathfinder wears a cat hook, which quickly moves in any direction, may scan beacons to find out the place of the following ring, and eventually hooks a unique cable to a reasonably considerable distance, which allies could use.

I won't list all of the legends and all their skills, and that I shall just state that the designers were able to create truly unique personalities - both externally and concerning gameplay. By this, they're very reminiscent of the primary characters of Overwatch, with no the limitations on the usage of weapons and equipment - everybody is equivalent here.

Apex Legends doesn't have solitary mode - just team struggles (at least for now). Sixty gamers are fighting the map: two dozen groups of 3 people each. Before shooting, you have to select a character on your own and await the comrades to do this, and there can't be two identical legends from the group. The tactics for the approaching struggle ought to be considered even then - we remember the stage of decision in various MOBAs.

There is but 1 map so far - Kings Canyon. Despite its rather small size (when compared with all the open areas of PUBG), it is a somewhat mixed group of locations where you can find open spaces and smaller villages with crowded homes, and in certain places, there are huge buildings using a real labyrinth of rooms. Those who were awaiting the titans from Titanfall will be disappointed: there's not any technology whatsoever in the computer game. Yes and it isn't needed - that the characters operate very briskly, so death beyond the circle happens very rarely.

Landing on the battlefield is normal to its genre - falling from a fantastic height, which lets you fly to nearly everywhere on the map. But then the already familiar fun starts - a feverish search for at least some kind of weapon, even the very first fights with people who landed nearby, the conclusion of the boundaries of the next ring, along with the planned motion towards the safe zone together with the assortment of valuable loot. To kill all those you meet or hide to the past - the decision is yours.

Safety in numbers

Apex Legends is a group activity movie. The lack of a solo mode is not accidental (and it is still unknown whether they could add it later on without breaking the balance): many gameplay mechanics are specifically constructed about the interaction of gamers.

The death of one of the allies isn't a paragraph. Firstly, as long as he has not expired or is completed by enemies, then a comrade can be reanimated. Second, even if this didn't succeed, then the survivors have up to a second and a half to raise a banner from the corpse. It could be credited to a few of these lighthouses of the Renaissance, where the deceased will return to existence.

The large value of this TTK index (time to kill, about speaking - the amount of bullets have to be implanted in the enemy to kill him) not only contributes to delayed shootings but also nullifies almost all attempts to take care of the enemy alone. Despite an advantageous position, you can not always use it successfully: wounded birds are quickly treated, and if your opponents adhere together, then wait for a barrage of return shots. And this is not taking into account the abilities of these characters, and practically each of these has something in reserve that will help himself and his comrades to survive in battle or to hide. You have to stick together.

It's clear that it is better to behave on a staff played with voice communication, but fits with "randoms" in allies can also be very successful. Apex has an excellent tagging system which helps to understand the quiet folks who prefer not to use a mike.
