About the game:

Fallout Online has long been a hot topic: lots of times, fans attempted to convert this world into the MMO format. Remember the Project V13 in 2012 of Interplay drowned? Why the ugly squabble about copyright has been needed at least it is clear. But it's unlikely that by digging a hole for Chris Taylor's group, Maryland was counting on a welcome of their version of Fallout Online.

The community loathed Fallout 76 long prior to the release. And that there was a reason behind that! Let's flex a few fingers: no more Steam service a cardboard box with a code in lieu of a disk, a lot of bugs on all platforms, 50-gigabyte patches, complete neglect of the world's mythology, simply to drag Brotherhood of Steel and super mutants to the project, jealousy of mods, flawed role-playing system, obsolete engine, old graphics, microtransactions... Oops, I ran out of fingers to count. Generally, there is an ocean of factors. And, regrettably, not all of them are far-fetched.

Let us agree on the beach: this inspection isn't a note by a crazy fanatic. Yes, I have a deep love and affection for the roots of the Fallout series, however I calmly accepted what Todd Howard and his enrichment plant turned it into. Did the action-RPG from a leisurely isometric role-playing video game with battles? Alright, so be it. Abolished the role and dialogue system, giving the chance to construct settlements and safeguard them? Nothing will do. And only following the news of micropayments and on the internet, I still could not stand it: damn donations got into here! Is EA laurels currently haunting?

The publisher shook my faith in the long run of singles, and the "purchased once - play your entire life" version, therefore immediately after launch Fallout 76, I climbed to the in-game shop using a heart. It was that not everything is really poor: that the Atomic Shop sells a huge variety of decorative materials like mild queen costume, dumb New Year's eyeglasses, emotions and presents for photo mode to light audio (yes, there is also a photograph style today ). Here you may buy, for example, doorways that are new or laminate flooring - in a note, the transformation of the show into a version of The Sims was solemnly held.

The medium of exchange would be "atoms," that can be bought in a predatory speed for real money or earn straight from the game. And this, I must admit, isn't so hard: the superior currency is given for literally every action like dividing four terminals or murdering ghouls, so it's quite realistic to get enough for a cowboy hat or a table lamp in the form of a nuclear mushroom. And except for makeup, there is practically nothing in the shop: that the "kill all" button isn't suitable for sale.

We'll have to manage the extermination of all living and half-dead by ourselves since there are enough monsters, both old and new. However, the struggle is the same as in Fallout 4: apparently were not enough for the developers to raise the shooting to the level of an outstanding shooter.

The only novelty is the modified V.A.T.S. mode. He no longer pauses the game and does not slow down time - now this is a trivial auto-sight: a legitimate cheat sends bullets to fly along the most unthinkable trajectories, and in close combat can even pull the player a bit to the target. It looks strange, but it's convenient to shoot from a gamepad.

That's just convenient - it doesn't mean intriguing: artificial intelligence is catastrophically crude, and it is all but impossible to come across an opponent. Players simply don't have any reason to conflict with each other: the reward for victory is the resources, along with there are numerous resources. And the struggles with players stuck in them for quite a while.

To kill is difficult, despite a gap, although formally, PvP style is available from the degree. If the player does not react to your attack, the harm does not pass through him, so he can go about his business while he is being poured with obscenities and direct. The hunter-victim mode, in which creators see their battle royale, is also unlikely to drag anyone out for long. Royal battle for five? Really?

Multiplayer is revived a little only by regular squabbles for "public workshops" - resources of rare materials and also simply handy bases. To begin with, then defended from competitions, that require precious aluminum and titanium and such a workshop has to be cleaned out of dinosaurs. In actuality, it's more easy to get them other, not as troublesome, and more familiar procedures.

RPG no more MMOre

But even if (un) lucky enough to become involved with a struggle, it doesn't become more intriguing: passing does not threaten anything, and victory gives small. However, there is practically no interaction with others! Fallout 76 is a MMO from. There are no factions, no guilds, no auction. A text conversation that is normal is not even, therefore making new friends is difficult. It is much better to come with your own - maybe you may find some enjoyment.

In addition, the opportunity to meet somebody is not much higher than No Man's Sky after the launch: that the post-nuclear Appalachia, to put it mildly, isn't the place. Here you can walk for hours without meeting a soul - and it's not about the players.

Bear in mind the system? Thus, now it does not exist at allthere's no one to speak to. The entire plot and quests are filed in the most primitive way using diaries and notes. It is like we perform indie horror, not AAA course RPGs. Though...

What type of RPG are we speaking about? There is not any need to play a role and make decisions now. The jobs do not suggest forks or any dilemmas: it all comes down to working round, post-shooting, and studying. It is extremely tricky to feel the fleeting duty for an empty world inhabited solely by robots and mutants that are awful. This is not at all the same as being accountable for the lives of the inhabitants of Vault 13, deciding the fate of miserable or Megaton synths that are too much like people. It's not entirely clear why the entire world in should be stored entirely.

Our actions have no consequences: in any situation, no one will die, not be upset, and not even suffer. Everybody has died or turned into brainless creatures, so that they won't be worse.

The role-playing system to an RPG is no less significant than the chance of wagering, and here in Bethesda, it went wrong. Simplification of pumping started in the series' next part, then became notable from the fourth, however in Fallout 76, it reached its climax. From the long-suffering S.P.E.C.I.A.L. ripped everything except seven basic characteristics. Moreover, they are not permitted to be dispersed: at first, all parameters are all equal to unity, and character development is decreased to adjusting the overall look.

A degree increase permits you to raise among the features and get a number of new greeting cards in the soul of " 10% shotgun damage." At precisely exactly the exact identical time, you can alter active cards on the fly. Need to start up the lock? We remove the "Armsman" perk in the deck and place the "Cracker" card in its location. Because of this, every hero plays the banjo well and is a universal soldier who heals himself, and is powerful in both melee and remote ones. The mechanisms turned out to be very elastic, but it does not pull the character's full development.
