About the game:

Fallout Online has long been a topic instances, fans tried to convert this universe into the MMO format. Remember Interplay's Project V13 in 2012 finally drowned? Now it is clear the ugly squabble about copyright has been needed. However, it's improbable that by digging out a hole for Chris Taylor's group, Maryland was counting on a welcome of their version of Fallout Online.

The community Fallout 76 long prior to the release. And that there was a reason for that! Let us flex several fingers: no more Steam service a cardboard box with a code in lieu of a disk, a great deal of bugs on all platforms, 50-gigabyte patches, absolute neglect of the planet's mythology, just to drag Brotherhood of Steel and super mutants into the project, jealousy of mods, flawed role-playing system, outdated engine, older graphics, microtransactions... Oops, I ran out of fingers to count. There is an ocean of reasons. And, regrettably, not all of them are far-fetched.

Let us agree on the beach: this review is not a post from a mad fanatic. Yes, I have a deep love and affection for the Fallout series' origins, however I accepted what it turned into. Did the action-RPG from a leisurely isometric role-playing game with conflicts? Okay, so be it. Abolished the dialogue and role system, giving the opportunity protect them and to build settlements? Nothing is going to do. And following the news of on the internet and micropayments, I could not stand it: damn donations got right into here! Is Bethesda haunting EA laurels?

The publisher shook my faith in the future of singles, and also the "bought once - play your entire life" model, therefore immediately after launching Fallout 76, I rose to the in-game shop using a heart. It turned out that not every thing is so bad: that the Atomic Shop sells a wide variety of decorative things like light vampire costume, dumb New Year's glasses, emotions and presents for photograph mode to light music (yes, there's also a photograph style now). Here you are able to buy, for instance, doorways that are new or flooring - in a word, the final transformation of this show into a post-nuclear version of The Sims was held.

The medium of exchange is "atoms," that can be purchased at a predatory speed for real money or earn straight from the game. And this, I must admit, is not so difficult: the premium money is provided for literally every activity like dividing four terminals or murdering ghouls, therefore it is quite realistic to get enough for a cowboy hat or a table lamp in the shape of a nuclear mushroom. And yes, except for makeup, there's almost nothing in the store: that the "kill all" button isn't suitable for sale.

Because there are sufficient monsters, both old and new, We'll need to deal with the extermination of all living and half-dead by ourselves. However, the conflict is the same as in Fallout 4: apparently were not enough for the creators to raise the shooting to the level of an outstanding shooter.

The only novelty is that the modified V.A.T.S. style. He no longer pauses the computer game and does not slow down time - now this is a trivial auto-sight: a legitimate cheat sends bullets to fly along the most unthinkable trajectories, and in close combat can even pull the player a bit to the target. It appears odd, but it is convenient to take even from a gamepad.

That's just easy - it does not mean interesting intelligence is catastrophically primitive, and it is impossible to find an opponent. Players don't have any reason to battle with each other: the reward for success is the resources, and there are several resources. And the struggles with players are not so stimulating as to have stuck in them for quite a while.

To kill someone who doesn't want to battle is hard, despite a gap, although PvP mode can be found from the fifth degree. If the other player does not reply to your attack, the harm almost doesn't pass so while he's being poured with direct and obscenitieshe can peacefully go about his company. The hunter-victim mode, in which developers see their battle royale, is also unlikely to drag anyone out for long. Royal battle for five? Really?

Multiplayer is restored a bit only by regular squabbles to get "public classes" - sources of rare materials and also simply convenient bases. To begin with, this type of workshop needs to be cleaned out of mobs and shielded. In actuality, it's easier to receive them other, methods that are more familiar, and not as troublesome.

RPG no more MMOre

But even if (un) lucky enough to get involved with a fight, it does not become more intriguing: death does not endanger almost anything, and success gives small. But there is practically no calm interaction with others! Fallout 76 is a MMO from. There are no factions, no guilds no set interaction that is practical. There is not even a text conversation that is normal, so making new friends is tough. It is much better to come with your own - perhaps you are able to get some enjoyment.

The opportunity to satisfy somebody by chance is not much higher than No Man's Sky after the launch: the post-nuclear Appalachia, to put it mildly, is not the place. Here you can walk for hours without meeting a soul - and it is not only about the players.

Bear in mind the system? Now it does not exist at all: there's no one. Almost the entire quests and plot are filed in the way possible: using audio and notes diaries. It is like we play indie terror, not AAA course RPGs. Though...

What type of RPG are we really talking about? There's absolutely not any need to play with a role and make decisions today. The tasks don't suggest any dilemmas or forks: it comes down to post-shooting running round, and studying. It's very tricky to feel a vacant world occupied by robots and mutants that are awful in the duty. This is not the same as being responsible for the lives of the inhabitants of Vault 13, determining the destiny of Megaton or miserable synths. It is not clear why the entire world in must be saved.

Moreover, our actions don't have any consequences: in almost any situation, nobody will perish, not suffer, and not be angry. Everybody has died or turned into brainless creatures, so that they definitely won't be worse.

The role-playing system for the RPG is no less important than the chance of wagering, also here in Bethesda, additionally, it went wrong. in Fallout 76, it attained its climax, although simplification of pumping began in the series' region, subsequently became more notable from the fourth. From the long-suffering S.P.E.C.I.A.L. ripped everything except seven primary characteristics. Moreover, they are not permitted to be dispersed all parameters are equal to unity, to adjusting the look and character creation is reduced.

A level increase enables you to raise among the features and get a number of new greeting cards in the spirit of " 10 percent shotgun damage." At the exact same time, you can change cards. Need to open the lock? We remove the "Armsman" Benefit from the deck and put the "Cracker" card into its location. As a result, each hero plays the banjo and is a soldier who fixes himself, and is strong in both melee and remote ones. It doesn't pull the development of the character, although the mechanisms turned out to be quite flexible.
